Although Super 8 film was readily available and easy to copy when I began working on this project, the disappearance of print stock for this format has led me to consider each of these pieces as both document and artifact, irreproducible without a transference to another recording medium. My continued interest in this project stems from the ephemeral nature of working with Super 8 film in the era of digital reproduction, and I plan to create more entries until I no longer have the technological capability of shooting and presenting the work on Super 8 film. Each entry is designed to function as both an individual work and to have greater resonance when presented in a serial fashion. The films are not permanently linked to a specific soundtrack, and have been presented both silently and with live accompaniment by musicians and experimental sound artists. In addition to being grouped for solo shows, the individual pieces have been exhibited at festivals and screenings in the United States, Canada, Europe, and South America. Currently, the diary consists of over 50 entries totaling over 3.5 hours of edited footage. Click to SEE THE DIARY PROJECT ON VIMEO
