(2004, 8min., 16mm, mono) The title is broken Dutch for "Where Have You Looked For It?" and refers more to the completion of this film than to its shooting. Having shot Super8 film and recorded audio on a trip to Amsterdam, I found myself with materials I liked, but no ideas for what to do with them. I spent two years working with the images and sounds, trying them out in different orders on different mediums without success. Then I remembered that tourism (re-creation?) has always been about learning about your self from the world, and the film became a document of remembrances, a recreation and a tourist's mindset. |
